Mark Sorrell

Mark Sorrell was born and raised in Houston, Texas and has lived there all of his life.  He is the middle child with an older sister and a younger brother.  Mark was raised in a Southern Baptist Church and made his profession of faith when he was nine years old in the fourth grade.

Upon graduating from high school, Mark attended Baylor University where he pursued a business degree in Marketing and Accounting.  He received his BBA in 1979 from Baylor.  While there he met his wife, Laura.

Mark and Laura married in 1978 and have two children.  Their daughter Katherine is practicing law in Richmond, Virginia.  And their son Stephen is currently in Med School at UT McGovern in Houston.

Mark began his career at Arthur Andersen as a CPA.  After Arthur Andersen, his career included 12 years in commercial real estate, starting an executive search firm with his wife Laura, and the last 16 years in the financial services industry.  Mark is currently a financial advisor in Houston.  He holds a CFP designation.  He is a current member and past President of the Houston Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.  He is also a member of the Houston Business and Estate Planning Council.

Mark is currently a member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.  He also served as a board member on several not for profits.  He served on the board of Mars Hill Ministries, Open Door Mission and he is currently on the board of Serenity Retreat.

Mark enjoys traveling with his family and playing golf for relaxation.
