We believe that Theophostic Prayer Ministry is the finest method to use for every inner healing need. We use Theophostic prayer exclusively and Serenity Retreat Prayer Ministers carefully follow the Theophostic Guidelines during every prayer session.

Serenity Retreat is a non-profit ministry that provides inner healing prayer to hurting people. The objective of the ministry is to make our prayer services available to as many hurting people as possible regardless of their financial ability to contribute to the needs of the ministry. The average cost of the ministry expenses is $100 per session. Donations pay for training, utilities, staff, insurance, office supplies and property upkeep so that people have a beautiful, safe place to receive ministry. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to the ministry in order for more people to be served, we would greatly appreciate it!

The time scheduled for your appointment is reserved for you, and volunteer prayer ministers will arrive expecting to pray for you. We ask you that if you must cancel, you do so with as much notice as possible so that the appointment time may be filled with someone from our waiting list. If you arrive thirty or more minutes late for an appointment, please plan to re-schedule that appointment.

At Serenity Retreat we are concerned about your privacy. Each prayer minister has been trained in confidentiality and covenants with God not to reveal any details about your prayer time together. The paperwork you are filling out now is also kept in a locked cabinet. We hope this will help provide an environment in which you can place your trust.

We strive to keep our relationship and all details of each prayer session private and secure, however, information may be released in the following circumstances:

1. We will disclose information and notify the proper authorities or other appropriate parties if you admit to serious and imminent thoughts of suicide.

2. We are required by law to report any suspicion of child abuse. If we believe that a child is at risk of being abused, has already been abused, or that someone who previously abused a child is still a threat, we have no choice but to report it to Child Protective Services and/or the police.

3. We are required by law to report suspected abuse of elder persons (65 or older) or of a dependent adult.

4. If someone else’s life is in danger, we will report it to the intended victim and/or the proper authorities.

We are honored you have entrusted your children to us. After years of experience, we have developed the following guidelines that will help your child get the most out of the experience:

* One parent or guardian of the child must receive prayer themselves (one session minimum, here at Serenity Retreat) before the child has an appointment.

* Parents may stay in the next room, but may not accompany the child into the prayer ministry room. This ensures that the child is free to explore memories without fear of hurting your feelings, in case you may be part of a memory.

* Children are promised that topics discussed in the prayer room will be kept confidential. To honor this, your child’s prayer ministers will not discuss the specifics of the session with you. Please let the child voluntarily share what s/he chooses to share, without pressuring them.

* Remember that children and teens often finish a session of prayer more quickly than adults. Their attention span is often smaller, and their memories are more recent. A shorter session doesn’t mean an ineffective session.
