Jesus Heals Today!
Jesus is alive and actively healing people in every way: emotional, physical and spiritual! At Serenity Retreat, we have witnessed God, through Jesus Christ, heal hundreds of people. God is currently healing “incurable” things like depression, fibromyalgia, leukemia, diabetes, skin cancer, migraines, birth defects, insomnia, anger, bitterness, debilitating fear and the pain of past traumas , right here in Houston. We want to encourage you that no matter what you are suffering, God knows and wants to heal you.
Many types of healing come from Jesus Christ.
Emotional Healing: Jesus wants to heal our inner being. Experiences of trauma, abuse, or neglect can cause great emotional pain. These show up in life as uncontrollable anger, fear, low self-esteem, addictions, etc. We may not recognize the source of it. In Theophostic prayer, a method we use at Serenity Retreat, Jesus gently brings truth to the places where we believe lies in our memories. Once we know that truth about ourselves and God, the truth sets us free. For instance, if we had childhood experiences that taught us we were worthless and no good, we might grow up believing that. The belief that we are worthless would affect everything we do, and cause us inner pain. During a session of Theophostic prayer ministry, we would allow ourselves to remember when we first felt worthless. Then, the trained prayer ministers ask Jesus to bring truth. In the example of the feeling of worthlessness, Jesus would bring truth such as “you are precious” or “I created you” or “you are not worthless.” When we receive truth from God, it transforms us.
Physical Healing: At Serenity Retreat, we pray with assurance that Jesus will heal illness, disease, lameness, pain, and even deformity. Prayer ministers gather around the one receiving and (with permission) anoint them with oil and lay hands on the person when they pray. The healing may be instantaneous, or may progress over time. We always encourage cooperation with doctors and health care providers.
Spiritual Healing: Salvation is a restored relationship with God through Jesus Christ, including forgiveness (being set free). This is usually the basis or beginning of all other healing.
Deliverance: The enemy looks for opportunities to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10) Christians can be tempted, discouraged, tormented, perplexed and hindered by Satan. He constantly works to damp our joy, attack our peace, assault our righteousness and weaken our faith by feeding us lies. Part of our healing comes when we learn the truth about ourselves in Jesus Christ and are then able to withstand the action of the enemy. Theophostic prayer ministry is particularly effective in this area. Satan’s only power is in deception, (he is the father of lies). Because Jesus replaces lies with truth in this method of prayer, there are fewer and fewer areas where we are deceived and consequently open to attacks by the enemy.

Is it God’s will that we be healed?
Yes. How do we know? Jesus is the living example of God’s desire to heal us. Most of Jesus’ ministry involved healing, raising the dead and casting out demons. In fact, seventy five percent of his miracles recorded in the gospels involved healing, and the others were nature miracles such as calming the storm or turning water into wine. When we consider Jesus’ example of mercy and compassion on earth during three years of ministry we see that “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:35). If Jesus does only what the Father tells him to do, we can conclude that God wants us whole. (John 14:9-14.)
It may surprise you to know that our healing has already been accomplished at the death and resurrection of Jesus, called the atonement. At the atonement, we were saved by God from sin and death and restored our relationship with God, the father. “Save” in the original Greek, can be translated as sozo. However, saved is not the only meaning of the word sozo. It also means cured, to get well, made well, preserved, recover, restore, or bring safely. The word sozo is used in verses that talk about our being saved from sin, as in Matthew 18:11 “For the Son of man is come to save (sozo) that which was lost.” But most significantly for this discussion, sozo is also used in verses referring to physical healing, as in as the woman who had been sick for twelve years with an issue of blood approached Jesus “For she was saying to herself, if I only touch his garment, I will be well (sozo).” (Matthew 9:21). Both our salvation and our physical healing have already been provided for us on the cross.

This may change the way we pray
The outlook that it is already done, may change our prayers:
We could then pray:
Jesus “I believe you died for me”
Jesus, “I believe you have provided me with eternal life”
Jesus, “I believe you have healed me”
Jesus, “I believe you have given me authority over satan.”
Jesus, “I believe you have washed me clean so that I can come right into the throne room of God, and ask for what I need and know that you will provide it in the natural.”
Jesus, I believe you have allowed me to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and from that power, I can operate in the natural.
Christian believers are coming from a place of victory, not fighting to win a victory! We don’t have to wait on God to do something, he has already blessed, healed, and saved us. We only need to pray that God help us to be open to what he has done – that we have the faith, grace and surrender to receive it.
