Classroom

The 12-week Basic Seminar meets three hours per week and features DVD lectures by Dr. Ed Smith, and videos of actual ministry sessions. Students read the Theophostic Prayer Ministry Basic Seminar Manual (2007), and participate in classroom discussion, live ministry demonstration and testing on the material. By completing this class and passing the final exam, you are eligible to receive a certificate from the Theophostic™ Prayer Ministry home office showing you have met all the requirements of training.

 

 

Apprenticeship

To put their classroom training into practice, most students follow the Basic Seminar with Serenity Retreat's nine-month Transformation Group. Here, you learn to minister to others and personally connect with the living Lord as you receive ministry. Upon graduation from Transformation Group, those who want to continue on as Prayer Ministers are evaluated and assigned a mentor as they serve weekly at Serenity Retreat. Others return to their congregations or Counseling/Therapy practice ready to minister.

Basic Seminar COST & Schedule:  $300

 

 

2013 Summer Classes in Houston

June 21/22, July 19/20, August 16/17
  (Fridays and Saturdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) in Houston, all three weekends required.

 

 

2014 Spring Classes

beginning mid February

Evening* classes (6:15 - 9:30 p.m.),
or Daytime* classes (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
*day of week to be determined

Spring 12-week course fee: $300, which includes textbooks
Summer weekend course fee: $350, which includes textbooks and lunch six days.
  These prices reflect the cost to Serenity Retreat to offer the training.

 

Transformation Groups (Apprenticeship):

 

Groups begin (with a minimim of 3 and maximum of 5 students) in mid-September.
Training fee for nine-month training: $500, the cost to Serenity Retreat to offer the training.
